Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef

Australia's Great Barrier Reef has been a focal point of the east coast of tropical North Queensland for centuries. This massive structure of living coral stretches from the Bundaberg to the far north of Australia, protecting the coastline from waves and providing nurseries for migratory Humpback and Dwarf Minke whales and other rare and endangered marine life such as Dugongs and Green Sea turtles.

Did you know that the magical colors of the ocean and coral reefs fascinated Captain James Cook? An English sea captain who claimed Australia for Britain in 1770 until he accidentally struck sharp coral and left a hole in his ship Endeavour. The explorer was able to repair his boat's hole in the Cooktown River and return to Britain, but not without facing the wrath of Australian corals on the Great Barrier Reef.

Since then, the Cairns and Port Douglas Great Barrier Reef have been a constant source of fascination for all who encounter it. Cairns and Port Douglas in North Queensland offer the quickest access to the Great Barrier Reef, the world's largest and most spectacular coral reef system, where scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, cruising, and islands form part of everyday life.

Tourists from all over the world have the Great Barrier Reef on their wish list at least once in their life as a must-see destination, and most opt for a snorkeling or diving excursion from Cairns or Port Douglas, because these ports have a fast boat. The promenade offers fertile terrain for diving in the Great Barrier Reef.

Furthermore, Cairns is known as the "Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef". Located in the far north of Queensland (approximately a 2-hour flight from Brisbane), this is the closest reef cruise departure point to the outer barrier reef. Travel time to the Outer Barrier Reef is only 90 minutes by boat or 30 minutes by helicopter. If you want to see a tropical island, Green Island and Fitzroy Island are only 45 minutes away by boat. Reef tours depart daily and are suitable for all skill levels.

Aquaduck

Aquaduck is a marine tourism operator on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Aquaduck consolidates the best sights of Mooloolaba into one fun and exciting visit. This 1-hour visit on the land and/or water capable Aquaduck takes in the core of the Sunshine Coast, Mooloolaba Beach, the Esplanade, views over the Pacific Ocean and the Sunshine Strip by road. Then, at that point, we sprinkle into the water to partake in a brief boat voyage spotting natural life, encountering the excellence of the Mooloolah River, the clamor of fishing vessels in the harbor, and the mansions lining the canals. Whilst on the water, kids are welcomed up to the captains' seats to drive the Aquaduck and get their own personal Aquaduck Captain's Certificate.

The Daintree Rainforest is the biggest area of tropical rainforest in Australia and is found a short 2-hour drive north of Cairns. The Daintree National Park is a World Heritage Site and part of the extraordinary Wet Tropics region. It's a fantastic piece of a country brimming with many exotic creatures and plant species as well as a few rare and endangered species.

Daintree Village is a laid-back provincial town located on a bend on the mighty Daintree River. It was once a spot for gold rush pioneers, then turned into a center for the Queensland lumber industry, and is currently a tourist town that opens up the miracles of the Daintree - from Mossman Gorge to the Bloomfield River with every one of the marvels that lie between.

Tropical North Queensland's saltwater crocodiles - huge beasts that can grow up to 7m long, with formidable jaws and armor-like hides - are one of the world's most persevering through species, having outlived dinosaurs by somewhere in the range of 65 million years.

Fearsome, indeed, yet also intriguing: the saltwater crocodile is the biggest reptile and biggest terrestrial predator on earth. The simplest method for getting very close with a crocodile is at one of the TNQ's natural life parks. At Hartley's Crocodile Adventures, somewhere between Cairns and Port Douglas, you can wonder about the strength and size of both fresh and saltwater crocodiles on an intimate cruise of the lagoon in the wetland environment. At Rainforestation in Kuranda, Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas, and Cairns ZOOM and Wildlife Dome in the city, you can appreciate directed visits through the parks, watch croc feedings and meet a lot of cold-blooded locals!

Assuming you have your heart set on getting a brief look at a crocodile in the wild, there are various natural life travels to browse in the Daintree, Cairns, and Mission Beach. On the tours, you'll get a very close experience with crocodiles, endemic birds, and other untamed life so it's ideally suited for a definitive nature darling. Remember that croc-spotting is easier in the colder months; during the wet season, numerous crocs cool down by submerging themselves in the river.

Tropical North Queensland is at the heart of crocodile country, so assuming that you're going through, be croc-wise. Search for cautioning signs, however, recall that crocodiles might even be available in un-signposted regions, and never camp close to the water's edge.

The Sunshine Coast

Posted by: SuperAdmin on 18th April 2022 19:44:54.

The Sunshine Coast

Do you happen to like outdoor activities? Looking for a place to move, stay for vacation, and/or retire? Do you want to see a view you've never seen before? If so, let me tell you about the Sunshine Coast. It is a peri-urban region in South East Queensland in Australia.

The Sunshine Coast used to be a tourism hotspot. Back when there was no pandemic of course… Then, it attracted more than 3.2 million visitors a year, and let me tell you why.

Because of the weather, food, wildlife, activities, housing, and lifestyle.

The Weather:

The Sunshine Coast is not for everybody, but most. For those that are looking for a place to stay where it is warm, you found it!! However, you have to really need to love humid weather though. But that’s great for cleansing the body! LOL!

The Food:

Folks in the Sunshine Coast are very health conscious. There are so many types of restaurants to visit that will appease any foodie’s taste buds! There are also a lot of local farmers on the Sunshine Coast, which makes accessing fresh fruits and vegetables ever so easy.

The Wildlife:

There is heaps of wildlife on the Sunshine Coast and you don’t need to go far to find them! You may not necessarily see Kangaroos, but driving, cycling or hopping on a motorcycle just minutes out of any of the towns, and you’re certainly bound to see animals.

Obviously, when you're in a residential area, they are not going to hang around so much. However, certain animals come out at certain times of the day. Kangaroos are first in the morning, and at dusk. Possums often show up in the evening. Fruit bats as well, and one may generally see them at sunset. Oh! I nearly forgot, it can be a bit eerie when you see Fruit Bats swirling around like huge black clouds! Of course, they are still fascinating!!

Don’t be disappointed if you don’t see all the wildlife that the Sunshine Coast has to offer all at once, but it’s a fair bet that if you’re there for a week or two, you’ll see your fair share! Birds are probably some of the wildlife you see most often and the reason is the wonderful weather enjoyed there. Expect to hear plenty of birds ‘singing’ and of course kookaburras laughing at sunrise and sunset. They’re one of the reasons why the folks in the Sunshine Coast wake up very early.

The Activities:

There is so much to do at the Sunshine Coast. Take for example the mountains…It is geared with mountains to climb or walk around. There is nothing like it when you get to the top of a mountain, upon reaching the peak you can witness the extremely mesmerizing view! It really makes one thankful for being alive and the chance to experience nature and other kinds of ‘wonders’. Then, of course, there are other types of activities like; bike trails, parks, and of course… It has the most beautiful beaches.

The types of activities are almost endless such as swimming, sunbathing, kayaking, surfing, hot-air ballooning, fishing (both river and ocean, etc.) It is also not overcrowded as the place is extremely vast, people could just spread around and do not have to worry about being at the top of each other. There are also a lot of organized sports and activities for children. Consequently, as you can imagine, you’ll never be bored! Also, one of the best things on the Sunshine Coast is that many of these activities are free! And we think that’s great!?!

The Housing:

There are a lot of beautiful and magnificent houses on the Sunshine Coast. Most of them are actually quite cheaper compared to other places in Australia. But because there are a lot of people moving to the Sunshine Coast, that could very well change as the pricing may hike like many other parts of Australia see massive increases both in purchasing and renting property.

However, places like the Sunshine Coast will probably always have lower housing costs compared to the big cities and is a magnet to many people to enjoy all the experiences they can have right at their doorstep. The excitement, the fun, the vibrant nature, etc. These are all priceless!!

The Lifestyle:

Most of them have been said already. The lifestyle here is fun and adventurous and is a drawcard for those opting to pack up and elope from the cities. The weather alone attracts many who want to escape colder climates, and adjusting to the weather isn’t all that difficult. So fear not, as, like many things, time will be your friend where the weather is concerned! Most people moving to the Sunshine Coast swear that it’s like living in Paradise! Couple that with the lifestyles we’ve spoken about so far and the Sunshine Coast is a place to certainly explore.

The local people in the Sunshine Coast are very open to folk of other cultural backgrounds. So fear not! If for example, you’re considering a move from Sydney to Queensland, it’s a pretty sure bet you’ll be welcomed with open arms. As is the case like anywhere, there are always people who have different opinions, but overall, the experience of moving to the Sunshine Coast is extremely positive. It’s always a good idea to go for a holiday to check things out for yourself, but it’s 99% sure you’ll be hooked on settling there if moving is something on your agenda. People come to adore the region and appreciate the lifestyle it affords them. Small things like the feel of the morning sun in winter, and the warm caress of summertime breeze!

As the exodus from the large cities compounds year by year, many of us are looking for somewhere to relax and chill, and one of the Sunshine Coast's most famous towns to do just that is called Noosa Heads. An indulgent and stylish getaway that attracts many of the world's A-list. Its powder-white beach is one of the few in the world and almost completely surrounded by national parks. Almost 4,000 hectares of classic Australian bushland. You can spend your day following winding tracks to the unspoiled headlands and cool off in the crystal clear waters. As the sun sets, you can step straight from the beach into a luxurious lifestyle that shines just as brightly at night. Amazing, yeah?

Noosa is also a place to experience 5-star accommodations, designer stores, and romance.

If you want a lowkey-type of a region where you can spend your time and relax (and with less population) you must head further south of the Sunshine Beach; Peregian, and Coolum. You can choose your own stretch of the ocean and cast a line, enjoy relaxed dining, a leisurely coffee, great shops to explore or, just enjoy the sunshine itself for which the area was named!!

If you want a bit more of an action, join the surfers who were drawn from all over the world. As there are more than 100 surf breaks in the region. Therefore, there are waves to suit everyone. Surf life-saving clubs and volunteers have been keeping everyone and Australia's magnificent beaches safe since the early 1900s, can you imagine that? This region of the Sunshine Coast offers some of the most scenic locations in the country not to mention fine dining! Just one example is the Mooloolaba surf club where you can enjoy exquisite local seafood whilst overlooking the ocean.

As we hinted at earlier, it is extremely easy to make great long-lasting friends here. But sometimes one just wants to be by oneself and that and that is easily achieved whilst you savor the romanticism of Mooloolaba Beach. It is definitely one of the most protected beaches in the region which allows you to explore the local rock pools or learn more about the ocean life at Underwater World. We’re sure you’ll have long-lasting memories of your time at Mooloolaba Beach.

Also, half an hour drive from Mooloolaba into the hinterland is the legendary Crocodile Hunter's Australia Zoo. One of the largest conservation and wildlife facilities in the world. It's a place to go if you want to experience snakes, big cats, or watch crocodiles being fed.

At the edge of the Sunshine Coast's green hinterland, are the Glasshouse Mountains, craggy volcanic peaks that stand like a protector of the entire region. Likewise, crisscrossed with trails offering and sweeping views of the coast, which is ideal for hiking and picnicking. The area's natural beauty has long attracted a vibrant community and craftspeople and the Eumundi Markets showcase the very best of their work. There are now more than 600 stalls at this coveted shoppers paradise that occur each Wednesday and Saturday offering local produce and crafts that were created in the nearby hills.

You can also enjoy the cool town air of the small towns of Montville, Maleny, and Mapleton, snuggled in the rolling Blackall Ranges. Originally built around the logging industry, for which these historic towns are now known for their fine local produce, beautiful buildings, and breathtaking views. The Maleny Botanic Gardens and Bird World offer the chance to learn about the local wildlife, along miles of meandering walking paths.

When you want to go back to the ocean, head to Caloundra, the Sunshine Coast's most southerly city. Families have been staying here for holidays for generations and that this city has a relaxation down to fine art. Wise tourists or travelers know that in order for you to discover or go to a perfect destination, you should always follow the locals. Why? Because they’re the ones who know their place better than anyone else!! LOL!

There can also be a day-to-day tour around the Sunshine Coast. If you want help, booking tours are made ever so easy and convenient. One of the best sites to book a tour is Aussie Kiwi Tours. It specializes in one and multi-day tours across the beautiful countries of Australia and New Zealand! Booking your tour is only some of the fun! Experiencing the tours with Aussie Kiwi Tours is the ultimate enjoyment!
